My name is Tim Knox. Since 1996, I have been making a very good living from my own business ventures. My combined companies have grossed almost a million dollars in revenue in the last two years. Even in a down economy, many small businesses are thriving. I am blessed that my companies are among those doing well.

That's my wife, Melissa and I, at a recent Rotary Club Dinner where I was the evening's guest speaker (my motto is: Feed me and I'll speak). We live in Huntsville, Alabama with our two daughters, Chelsea and Sierra, and four dogs: two Chihuahuas (Shadow and Sugar), one Maltipoo (Biskit), and one very wimpy Doberman (Reese) -- ALL FEMALE!

Yep, I'm the lone man in a houseful of women. God help me... :o)

I'm the founder, president and CEO of three successful technology companies and am a board member of the Alabama Information Technology Association, an organization committed to growing and supporting the Information Technology industry in the state of Alabama. I also work with many e-business, technology and Internet start-up companies as a board member, financial investor and advisor.

Please don't get the impression that getting to where I am today was easy.

To the contrary, I literally started with nothing and slaved for years at dead-end jobs while trying to start my own business.

At one time I was working 3 jobs just to earn $150 a week. I didn't have mentors or anyone to help me along the way. I had to figure it out all by myself.

I suppose that's why my greatest joy is helping regular folks start their own business ventures. I remember how hard it was to do it on my own. I also know how helpful a little advice from someone with more experience can be.
